Kieran McDowell has been a partner with Parlatore Law Group for five years. She assists current and former military service members facing complex legal administrative matters and the many collateral issues that typically arise from their military service. Her expertise includes a wide area of military administrative law matters, including discharge upgrades, record correction, federal court appeals, entry grade credit issues, and Veteran Law Assistance.

As a military spouse married to a Marine Judge Advocate for over fifteen years, Ms. McDowell knows firsthand the problems and frustrations service members and veterans encounter when confronted with administrative roadblocks and consequently, she is determined to zealously advocate for these men and women. She has previously applied her advocacy skills assisting Marines and Sailors at a Wounded Warrior Battalion where she successfully secured benefits for servicemembers who had been fighting, in some instances, for years. From this experience and subsequent appellate successes, Ms. McDowell developed her passion to provide the best assistance to servicemembers and veterans facing similar hurdles.

Outside of Parlatore Law Group, Ms. McDowell is a professor in the legal studies department at the American Military University, part of the American Public University System, teaching Constitutional and Administrative Law. This role provides her with a distinct advantage in advocating for service members and veterans. Her expertise in Constitutional Law is crucial for defending the rights of active-duty personnel, while her in-depth knowledge of Administrative Law is invaluable for successfully navigating the complexities of the VA benefits system for veterans.

She is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, the Western District of Pennsylvania, the D.C. District Court, the Court of Federal Claims, and is an accredited representative before the Veterans Administration.

Outside of her Law practice, Ms. McDowell enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time outdoors with her family. She lives in Virginia with her husband, two young daughters, and rescue dog.
