Probate

The death of a loved one is difficult on many levels. Beyond grieving, there is also the need to administer the estate and nvaigate a potentially lengthy probate process. Probate is the process where the Court oversees the administration of the decedent’s estate, handles any creditor claims, and ensures that all final bills, taxes and expenses are paid. Any remining assets are then distributed to named beneficiaries in a will, or if the decedent died intestate or without a will, to the decedent’s heirs as determined by that state’s laws of intestate succession. Our attorneys assist Executors with preparing and filing the initial Petition for Probate, the Inventory and Appraisal, responding to creditor claims, compiling the Final Accounting, filing the Petition for Final Distribution, and ultimately, distributing proceeds to the beneficiaries. We handle all of the legal details to ensure that your loved one’s estate is respected, protected and distributed according to their wishes.
